Current situation: Texas Department of State Health Services As of March 11, 2025, 223 measles cases have been identified in the South Plains region of Texas: Dallam, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Lubbock, Lynn, Martin, Terry, and Yoakum Counties. New Mexico Department of Health As of March 11, 2025, 33 confirmed measles cases have been identified in Lea and Eddy Counties. Oklahoma State Department of Health As of March 11, 2025, 2 probable cases have been reported from an exposure in Texas.

With measles cases increasing across the U.S. and spring break travel approaching, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment urges Coloradans to get vaccinated against the highly contagious disease. The best protection against measles infection is the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

In 2024, Silver Thread Public Health District embarked on a process designed to develop a roadmap that would set the direction and clear priorities for our future including stakeholder input, research, a SWOT analysis, a planning retreat, a strategic plan document, and development of a decision-making screen. Every five years, local public health agencies are required to update their local Public Health Improvement Plan (PHIP). A PHIP is the product of a community health assessment, which integrates quantitative data and qualitative data through feedback from community members and various partners to understand current top health issues in each county.
